Firefox available for Android OS!

During July 2008, a news on CNET.com made me somewhat sad, the reason was the uncertainity (or absence) of my favourite (then) internet browser Firefox from Android mobile platform. Pretty new at that time, Android Handset T-Mobile G1 was already my most favourite one! So, fingers crossed, I waited for the day Firefox came to Android! And it came! Unfortunately, I might be one of the few last people to know the beta phase of the “Firefox 4 for Mobile” but, as soon as I heard of it, I downloaded and now, I am using it! I must say I am already liking it! It is a known fact that, FF4 is going to be faster than FF3 (which is as good as an elephant for me). However, I am happier with FF4Beta2 on Android Froyo on HTC Desire (T-mobile UK) than the native android browser. So far, I have spotted the following features cool for me:

  • Faster page loading time (on good connections 😐 )
  • Better text handling than other browsers
  • Theme changing options for a mobile browser
  • Tab (rather than default limited number window on Android Browser)
  • Multitouch zoom in and out!
  • Tab list on the left pane to switch among sites
  • Integration of email, Facebook, Twitter and Google Reader
  • Integrate search engines and wiki

I can see the Firefox team and many other fans are quite excited about the Firefox Sync, but, I am not so sure whether I will be willing to share my footprints on yet another server (while our Google based life can already be tracked on web history). On the contrary I might find it useful if firefox can give synchronisation through Google account or similar.
